Lana Wilkinson's Spring Racing Edit

Spring Racing season has begun!

To celebrate, we've teamed up with leading fashion and celebrity stylist, Lana Wilkinson, for an expertly curated edit of six clutches that will be your go-to over the Spring Racing Carnival.

Lana also shares her top tips for choosing the right spring racing accessories, race-day essentials, and the trends to look out for this season.

Spring Carnival Style Q&A with Lana Wilkinson

Q. What inspired you to work with Olga Berg?
I love bags, always have, and Olga Berg has been a go-to for me for so much of my styling work over the years - especially for Spring Racing, Red Carpet Events and talent dressing.

Q. What is your favourite clutch in the collection and why?

It's so hard to choose just one! I love the Ziggy Lightning Acrylic clutches, in every colour. They add so much fashion to a look, even if your dress or overall look is classic. I also love the Soko Top Lock clutches as they add a bit of 'hardware' to a look, and everyone knows I love anything gold.

Q. What are your top 3 tips when it comes to choosing accessories for the Spring Racing Carnival?

Your bag choice is so important, make sure you can fit your phone and some key essentials like lip gloss. Also have fun with prints and colours - you're not going to the office.
Jewelled accessories like statement earrings and crowns are perfect together or for extra colour, add a printed turban.
Make sure you wear inner soles if you are prone to getting sore feet. A day at the races is a long one. Never ever end the day with your shoes in your hand, it's never a good look. This season there is no excuse given kitten heels are back in a big way, so there is a fashionable alternative.

Extra tip: Your greatest accessory is your hair and makeup - ensure it compliments your outfit. That is, makeup that is appropriate for the day, and your hair works with your millinery, and your tan looks natural.

Q. What Spring trends are you most excited about this season?

I'm so excited that colour is back and fashion is finally having fun again. If you're looking to make a subtle statement, it's all about walking the line in bold prints, stripes, and/or bold colours. Bright red saturated hues imbue Spring/Summer 17 silhouettes with a strong sense of power, particularly when worn in head-to-toe outfits. I love that there is a touch of the 80's coming back as well - a more modernised version.

Q. What essentials do you keep in your clutch on race day?
My key essentials in my clutch to survive on race day are a phone charger, my phone, a race book, lipstick, and concealer.

Q. What is your favourite part of the Spring Racing Carnival season (besides the outfits!)?

One of the best things about the Spring Racing season is that you get to play with lots of accessories in ways that you normally wouldn't. It's the one time of the year you get to really style statement pieces, whether it's a fabulous bag, striking shoe or bold millinery. For me, it's all three of those things that make or break a race day outfit. Experiment this year, it's all about more is more!
